The Ol' Fashioned
An Old Fashioned is a classic cocktail made with bitters, simple syrup & fruit. Most believe this drink is called "The Old Fashioned" because it's one of the first known cocktails ever, typically ordered at the bar as, "a drink the old-fashioned way". This classic cocktail can be made with bourbon, rye, or a blended whiskey. My personal preference is Knob Creek.
Ingredients:
2 oz. Bourbon
.5 oz Simple Syrup
3 Dashes of Orange Bitter
3 Dashes Walnut Bitters
2 Dashes Angostura Bitters
Ice
Garnish of an Orange Peel, Amaretto Cherry & Rosemary Sprig
Directions:
Add simple syrup & bitters to a lowball glass and stir.
Add ice cubes and top off with bourbon.
Peel an orange and infuse the zest lightly into the glass.
Garnish with the orange peel, an amaretto cherry & sprig of rosemary.
Pro Tip: Torch your rosemary to infuse the drink with a rich smokiness!
Simply light the rosemary sprig on fire and quickly extinguish by bathing it in your Ol' Fashioned.
Cheers!
